Victorian-style homes are so-named from the era in which they became so popular, the Victorian era, during the 1800s. Gothic Revival, Italianate, Second Empire and Queen Anne-style homes typically are referred to as Victorian styles as they share some of the same elaborate design elements and the time period in which they were built. The elaborate architecture provides much more creativity for Victorian windows, with bay windows and/or other shaped windows and stained window glass being common accent features.

Embellishment is the word when it comes to Victorian windows. Colorful stained window glass or windows with decorative patterns add to the opulent design of these homes. ProVia’s design team recommends these window glass options.
The ornate style of Victorian homes lend them to three- or four-color palettes for the exterior features of the house, making window colors a way to emphasize window details (and accompanying trim) or provide a muted contrast for homes that feature brightly colored siding. Here are some Victorian window color ideas from ProVia’s design team.
