ProVia, Synergy, and Model Remodel – Forging an Aesthetic Alliance

One of our favorite ways to introduce homeowners and remodelers to our products is by sponsoring renovation projects. We’ve partnered with outfits including Hammer & Nails and Habitat for Humanity, and with publications as well – ProVia has sponsored Professional Remodeler magazine’s Model ReModel project several times.

Each year, Pro Remodeler features a renovation story from start to finish, introducing their audience to the designer and remodeler and providing project updates along the way. It’s always gratifying to see the work in progress and final reveal of the completed remodel.

Synergy Design & Construction of Reston, VA was selected by Pro Remodeler for the 2021 project. Synergy chose ProVia manufactured stone and vinyl replacement windows for their project. We’ll cover manufactured stone in this blog entry.

Gorgeous, natural-looking stone for indoor fireplace

Stone veneer is typically used outdoors as an exterior house cladding, for decorative accents on patios or pillars, or backyard firepits. But many homeowners are realizing how stone can add an organic, elegant component to interior spaces. Manufactured stone’s natural beauty and versatility make it an ideal material for stunning indoor fireplaces. ProVia’s wide range of stone profiles and color palettes offer numerous options for creating a warm and handsome hearth. Stone can be used from the base all the way to the ceiling for an impressive, commanding feature in a large space, or simply from the base to the mantel for a cozy atmosphere. Whether the décor and style of your family room, den or bedroom is modern, contemporary, or antique, ProVia has the perfect stone veneer for a gorgeous fireplace.

A variety of stone profiles to match your personal aesthetic

Stone veneer shape and color come into play when designing a signature hearth. Slab-shaped profiles like Limestone, Edge Cut™ and Natural Cut™ impart a traditional homestead look and feel, while compact, smaller stones like those in the Dry Stack, PrecisionFit and Ledgestone profiles look great with contemporary or modern living spaces. Profiles and palettes can even be intermingled, for a truly original and innovative style for your stone fireplace. Choosing complementary stone profiles and colors works wonderfully to convey harmony while still providing eye-catching diversity in textures. Variations in grouting colors and techniques add even more opportunities for customization of your stone veneer fireplace. The varied profiles and colors afforded with ProVia’s manufactured stone provide the versatility to design an elegant fireplace and other stone accents that enhance and complement a home’s architecture and style.

A contemporary fireplace for a mid-century modern home remodel

Synergy Design & Construction is a design-build firm specializing in architectural planning, interior alignment, remodeling, and building. Founder Mina Fies and COO Mark Fies are partners and spouses, and this renovation wasn’t just a job – it was their own home. The Fies loved the bones of their mid-century house, but wanted an updated, contemporary style that could serve as a showcase for their “Renovate Happy” philosophy. Synergy goes above and beyond to ensure that all clients have a positive remodeling experience, and that idea aligns with ProVia’s mission. Synergy does incredible work and prides themselves in completing projects on-time and on-budget.

Mina and Mark had used ProVia products in other renovations, and were confident that ProVia manufactured stone was ideal for their project. The Fies chose to incorporate manufactured stone into the design of their master suite, using it instead of brick or tile to reface the existing fireplace.

Mina and Mark began the selection process by using ProVia’s stone and grout color visualizer to explore all the stone profiles and color palettes. Since the interior design project is decidedly modern, they selected PrecisionFit stone veneer in Onyx to refresh the hearth and complement the sleek, contemporary style of the home. PrecisionFit incorporates tightly fit rectangular pieces with rugged textures, varied depths, and defined shapes to create a facing with character and symmetry. They loved the linear silhouette and striking black color and found the PrecisionFit profile easy to install. Mina Fies describes the process here.
