ProVia has partnered with ENERGY STAR® since 2002 to ensure that we produce energy-efficient, professional-class windows and doors that meet or exceed their certified criteria. ENERGY STAR windows and doors have been independently tested and certified to meet strict energy-efficiency standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency. Our engineers have worked closely with the voluntary ENERGY STAR program to design and produce entry doors and replacement windows that provide energy savings and value to our customers.
We are proud to have been recognized over the years for our efforts. In 2022, we received our 15th Energy Star Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.
At ProVia, we consistently raise the bar in our engineering and manufacturing processes to bring top-performing products to market, as evidenced by this, our 15th ENERGY STAR award. We’re honored to help American families and businesses save energy and money every day. ProVia prioritizes energy efficiency education as well, through dealer/distributor training and marketing materials.
We are committed to exercising corporate environmental stewardship because it aligns with our Core Values of Integrity, Continuous Improvement and Sustainability. Every day, we strive to do our part to protect our natural resources by recycling, reusing materials where appropriate, and reducing pollution emissions.
In 2021, we completed installation of a 1.792 MW solar array at our stone manufacturing facility, comprised of 4,480 solar panels. It is expected to reduce electrical power consumption by 60% and to prevent emission of 1,472 tons of CO2 annually.
Sustainable product development is important to ProVia—in addition to the solar array, our stone manufacturing plant employs rainwater holding tanks and uses recycled water on the production line, our residential metal shake and slate roofs are manufactured from domestically sourced recycled steel, and our siding products contribute to LEED and ICC 700 National Green Building standards.
In addition:
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a non-profit/non-government agency developed by USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) in 1998 to encourage sustainable building practices in several different markets.
The LEED green building certification program is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of green buildings. It is a voluntary certification program that can be applied to any building type and any building life-cycle phase. It promotes the whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in key categories. For a building to become LEED certified, it must meet specific prerequisites and achieve specified performance levels to qualify for rating points.
All rating categories can achieve 1 of 4 levels of certification. ProVia door products can contribute to LEED points in 3 credit categories, helping your project satisfy all prerequisites to be certified. The three categories ProVia doors contribute to are as follows:
Energy and Atmosphere (EA)—This credit category encourages a variety of energy strategies such as reducing carbon impact and energy consumption.
Material and Resources (MR)—This credit category encourages sustainably grown, harvested, produced and transported products and materials. Reuse and recycle existing building materials. Use more recycled content.
Regional Priority (RP)—This credit category encourages use of regional products to reduce carbon impact of fossil fuels in transportation and to support local economies.
